Accrington Stanley bring in Beattie as player-coach

ACCRINGTON Stanley have confirmed the appointment of former England striker James Beattie as their new player-coach.

Beattie links up with Stanley boss Leam Richardson after the pair came through the youth system together at Blackburn Rovers.

If Beattie is fit then this could be a master stroke by Leam. We have been missing a big lad upfront in the old Mullin mould. Bring it on Accy.

James has probably made a lot of money in his career. Perhaps he has enough now that he can just do some footballing for fun. Or, he could be thinking about a career in coaching, and this would be the first step for him.
Either way, it is good for Stanley. Might put a few more hundred on the gate.
