COLNE goalkeeper Chris Thompson has been boosted ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Wigan Robin Park after being named as the North West Counties Premier Division goalkeeper of the month.

Thompson won both the manager’s player of the year award and the players’ player of the year honour at Colne last season and has continued his fine form this season.

A consistent performer behind a relatively new and inexperienced back four, Thompson kept three clean sheets in six matches during October – producing a string of outstanding performances.

Colne secretary Ed Lambert, who nominated Thompson for the award, said: “I would not swap him for any other keeper in the league.”

Nigel Coates’ side are at home to Wigan Robin Park tomorrow and go into the game in sixth position in the Premier Division.

“The squad is gaining in strength as the season goes forward,” Coates said.
