Dyche confirmed as Burnley boss

Burnley have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as its new manager.

Dyche, seen as one of football’s up-coming and progressive young managers, has signed a two-and-a-half year-contract at Turf Moor and will work with the former Nottingham Forest pair of Ian Woan and Tony Loughlan as his senior coaching team.

Dyche arrives at Turf Moor after making an impressive start to his coaching and managerial career at Watford and more recently within the England under-21 set-up.

The 41-year-old, who made more than 500 club appearances in a 17-year playing career, coached at youth and senior level at Vicarage Road before becoming first-team manager in June, 2011.

After making the step up from his role as assistant to Malky Mackay, Dyche took charge of his first competitive game at Turf Moor as the Hornets drew 2-2 with Burnley on the opening day of last season.

Despite the departure of a number of top players and working with one of the smallest budgets in the division, he then went on to lead the Hornets to 11th-place in the Championship – their highest finish and highest points total since 2008, the year following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Dyche’s Watford side took four points off Burnley with a win at Vicarage Road at the start of March kicking off a run of six wins, six draws and just one defeat before the end of the season.

Despite that record he lost his job last summer when Watford were taken over by new Italian owners who appointed former Italy international Gianfranco Zola as manager.

Since then, Dyche has worked with the England under-21 side, helping them reach the finals of the 2013 European Championships as part of the staff put together by Stuart Pearce – a former playing colleague at Nottingham Forest where he started his career.

After leaving Forest to join Chesterfield in 1990, the defender went on to make 269 for the Spireites, captaining the club and scoring in their FA Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough in 1997 when Clarets’ goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer was also in the Chesterfield side.

Dyche also helped the Derbyshire club to promotion in 1995 and went on to win future promotions as a player at Bristol City and Millwall – both clubs going up to the Championship – before signing for Watford in 2002.

The Kettering-born centre-back played 78 games for the Hornets and captained them for a season before moving to Northampton Town in 2005, where he enjoyed another promotion 12 months later.

After retiring in 2007, Dyche then started his coaching career with Watford’s youth team and was rewarded for his impressive work in the Academy by a rapid promotion to the senior ranks and the start of a managerial career which will now hopefully flourish further at Turf Moor.

Dyche worked with former Forest winger Woan as his assistant at Vicarage Road and the 44-year-old will fill the same role with the Clarets, with ex-Sunderland coach and Ipswich Town number two Loughlan, 42, appointed as first-team coach.

Unfortunately the Burnley board seem to have limited ambition and appear to quite happy to chug along in the second tier. No doubt the new mans credentials of working with limited resources at Watford was a big attraction to the board. But welcome to the Turf Sean and good luck, I'm sure the fans will get behind you and the team. We do have some great attackers and if you can put steel in the defence we might all even get a pleasant surprise come playoff time.

That's right, get on his case before he even walks through the door! Who would you have MacCarthy and his double figure backroom staff? Holloway? Get in real world, we have an average gate which struggles to reach 15k! I'll get behind my club and wish him well.

In all seriousness iv never heard 'Rovers' pronounced like that and iv been going to watch them for forty years. I assume then its Burnley fans that can't pronounce their 'r's. In terms of managers, we won't end up with anybody better than yours or Boltons. There aren't enough decent championship managers around. Iv always suspected Venkys would drive us round the block a few times and then park back outside Eric Blacks door. I don't know any rovers fan that didn't laugh at the redknap rumours. Its all uninspiring. Not even the prospect of our derby game gives me a glimmer of excitement. The buzz has certainly gone.

The fans at Watford took Sean to their hearts after a slightly rocky start to his managers career. He produced a team out of an odd assortment of players that could win games and became difficult to beat. There were loads of protests when the new owners brought in their own man, but Sean was dignified and honest to the end. Before you say that you are not impressed with the appointment, get the opinions of a few Watford fans, they have seen him a work and know what a good manager he will become.

At last it appears the whole country and footballing world in general now knows what a set of petty, vindictive, horrible inbred supporters you goons are.

The truth is NOBODY wants to work for you - even coaches are turning the job down left right and centre - Sherwood and McInley as well as Shearer, Redknapp, Holloway and anyone else with a modicum of sense.

It is not just the hilariously inept owners, it is the fact that you fans spend more time booing and protesting than actually supporting your team, and this is having an effect on your search for a new manager - I mean any new manager would probably have a three game losing streak and you gimps would be calling for his head.

Funny doesn't even come close - you are weapons-grade retarded for thinking any decent manager would come withing a mile of your shambles at BollEwood Park.

Even though you were the first side to sack their boss?

Whats that?

No-one wants it?

Oh dear?
Of course you won't have heard of him my deluded inbred pal, you didn't realise that there was football outside of the Premier League until August did you? Bless your little cotton socks. And who is your manager again? Sorry? No-one? Even though you were the first side to sack their boss? Whats that? No-one wants it? Oh dear? Kermit The Frog

We both know that we've got a much higher chance of promotion than you hillbillies.

Just like we both know that you'll sell Austin at Xmas, the board will pocket the cash and poor little Bonleh's fall back into obscurity will continue.

How will one man team Bonleh survive when they're a no-man team?

What are you lot boycotting matches for?

Just press the key once and don't get too excited about Dyche head, he's proved nothing. You'll only make a fool of yourself again.

Now that BFC have PROFESSIONALLY undertaken the appointment of a new manager and the Chuckle Bros. saga still continues time to sit back and look at some of the inane, immature comments from the wrong end of the motorway.

Aahhh!! Chico and RUinsane it's time to change your tune and grow up. I'll bet RU is sat on Chico's lap buncing up and down with excitement and Chico going OOOHHHH! we're getting a Berg now instead of a Knapp hand.

Ponder on the "hoped for" decision to appoint a Berg and before you make cracks about who sinks what remember this came first.

It looks like the Venkys are taking sinking BRFC to a new low level. What was it that sank the "Mighty Titanic". What are shrinking at an alarming rate. What keeps cracking up constantly being in deep water. Why of course the answer is "A Berg". So how many more rats will be leaving a sinking ship as the humour continues

By comparing the playing careers of the two, you conclude that you have appointed a candidate better able to manage a football club? Now you are showing yourself to be talking sht.
While hen was a decent player, you know that his management record is pss poor. Given that was in the lower leagues of norway (lol) and he has been unable to get a job in football anywhere, you resort to pontificating about his playing career. shtin' yourselves is how i read it.
