I AM sure that most of us feel that there has been a shortage of activity in repairing our often seriously damaged roads but our recent Sporting Courses events have found such action in abundance!

Every event from the Circuit of Pendle and Circuit of Ingleborough in early March through the two Ribble Valley based events to the Nelson Wheelers’ Circuit of the Dales last weekend have been hindered in some way with temporary traffic lights affecting most of them.

Sunday’s event had new roadworks appearing almost at the last minute and resulted in the race being shortened by two miles to just less that 49 miles.

Our local riders were outclassed by a field from all parts of the country for this 60-year-old Classic with Burnley’s on-form Peter Greenwood being our best rider with a ride of two hours 10 minutes and 49 seconds for 18th place.

Fastest on the day was Wigan’s Pro Richard Handley of the Rapha-Condor-Sharp team in 1h 55m 38s.

As usual at Easter the North Lancashire Road Club promote their Christine Goodfellow and Michael Pryce Memorial 10-mile time trial starting at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.

Event organiser Rob Dickinson of Burnley has received an excellent entry of 85 for the event to be held on the A6 road at Garstang. HQ and prize Presentation is at Catterall Village Hall.
