STAR batsman Peter Dibb is relishing the chance of helping the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League into a final when the representative side shoot for a place in the final of the Reader’s Lancashire Inter League Knockout Competition on Sunday week.
The Ribb League travel to face the North Lancashire and Cumbria League in the semi-final and Clitheroe ace Dibb is in the mood for a final and excitement is already building ahead of the trip .
“It’s a great competition,” said Dibb, who moved back to Chatburn Road this season after a year with Lancashire League outfit Nelson. “We have a good team with loads of experience in there and we are all really looking forward to it.
“And the competition is particularly enjoyable because there is no real pressure on players like there is in league matches for your club. You obviously want to win just as much but it is a more relaxed atmosphere I suppose.”
The Ribblesdale League booked their place in the last four after a stunning win over the Bolton Association earlier this month when Read’s Mohammad Jamal smashed a brilliant 107 in a tremendous triumph.
And while Dibb is obviously hoping for progress, he wouldn’t mind too much if Jamal took a back seat on Sunday week.
“It was some innings,” he added. “But he is that sort of player. We know that from what he does in the league and he was brilliant.
“Even if he can’t repeat that this week we have plenty of good experience down the team and hopefully I can get in and get a few runs as well.”
