Oswaldtwistle Immanuel turn to Cook to serve up runs

FORMER Rawtenstall star Chris Cook-Martin has returned to East Lancashire after signing on as professional of Ribblesdale League outfit Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.

The 24-year-old, who hit 900 runs this summer while professional in the Bolton Association with Astley and Tyldsley, replaces Andy Kerr at New Lane.

Cook-Martin is a former skipper of the Lancashire U18s team and big things are expected of him.

Immanuel chairman Martin Heyes said: “We are delighted to have signed Chris, who has consistently performed well with the bat for several seasons now.

“His record compares very will with other players who have gone on to become professionals in the Ribblesdale League and the Lancashire League.

“We identified Chris as a target soon after last season and we are very pleased to have got him signed up quickly, especially since other clubs were interested in signing him.

“Chris is extremely keen and can’t wait to get started. He lives locally as well, which is a bonus since he’ll be able to train with us during the winter.

“We had an excellent season, finishing in the highest position since we joined the Ribblesdale Senior League in 1994 and we hope that Chris will help to take us another step forward and that his batting will our strong amateur bowling attack.”
