Champs Bash look to treble

BAXENDEN are champions of the Ribblesdale League after they beat the rain and Clitheroe yesterday to spark the title party.

And now they are gunning for a Ribblesdale League treble this afternoon as they face Great Harwood at Back Lane in the final of the 20/20 competition.

They already had the Ramsbottom Cup in the locker and went into yesterday’s game at Chatburn Road needing two bonus points to wrap up the title with Great Harwood, who overtook Read to move into second spot, the only side who could catch them.

Ian Austin’s men bowled Clitheroe out for 68 and then stormed to 72-0 before the rain came down to put the issue beyond doubt with all the day’s other games abandoned.

A delighted Austin, pictured, said: “It’s a nice way to win it and we performed well at Clitheroe.

“And now we will see what happens in the 20/20 final.

“It’s a rare chance for the lads to win a treble and we are looking forward to it.”
