GREAT Harwood booked their place in the final of the Ramsbottom Cup after completing a victory over Barnoldswick at the second attempt.

Harwood had batted last week before the rain washed out any chance of the game being completed.

Ashen Silva hit 96 not out while Hamim Miah made 52 as the visitors posted 255-3 off their 40 overs.

Barnoldswick finally got their reply underway on Sunday with Umar Saddique and Amir Saddique both making 34 at the top of the order.

And with professional Shashrika Pussegolla still at the crease and the score on 175-5 the game remained in the balance.

But Paul Newton took 6-46 as the hosts collapsed once Pussegolla was dismissed for 88. Barnoldswick lost their last five wickets for 17 runs to fold to 192 all out.

Great Harwood will play either Clitheroe or Baxenden in the final but the second last four match could not be completed because of rain.

Brad Moses hit 81 for the home side as they posted 146-9 and Clitheroe were 7-1 in reply when the weather ended play early.

In the Lawrenson Cup, Ribblesdale Wanderers secured their place in the final with a victory over Clitheroe.

The match was washed out first time round but completed on Sunday with Ribblesdale getting home by five wickets.

Clitheroe posted 157-5 batting first but the visitors were able to chase down their target.

Ribblesdale are still waiting to discover their final opponents after rain halted the match between Stacksteads and Barnoldswick.

The game is finely balanced after Stacksteads were bowled out for 126 with John Hindle hitting 50.

David Scothern took five wickets for the visitors who were 92-5 in reply when play was halted with 35 runs needed off the remaining 14 overs. Play will resume on Sunday with the final scheduled for August 14.

Meanwhile, the Ribblesdale League T20 quarter-final draw has paired Section A leaders Clitheroe with Read in what looks like the tie of the round.

Elsewhere, Section B high flyers Padiham entertain Whalley, Euxton travel to Baxenden and Cherry Tree host Salesbury.

Those ties take place on Friday.
