Leaders Clitheroe returned to winning ways after the previous weekend’s Houldsworth Ribblesdale League defeat with an impressive display to beat Whalley in an enthralling game.

Chasing 187, Tom Lord struck an unbeaten 73 and Jack Dewhurst gave good support with 46 as Clitheroe got home with three wickets and eight overs to spare, Champions Barnoldswick won the senior league’s match of the day at New Lane.

Dismissed for 120, second placed Barlick bowled out hosts, Oswaldtwistle Immanuel, for only 101 with substitute professional, Mohammed Rehman, taking 5-46.

Performance of the afternoon came from Edenfield who crushed Ramsbottom Cup finalists, Ribblesdale Wanderers, by 10 wickets.

Wanderers, who meet Brooksbottom in next weekend’s show piece final, notched a respectable 222-7 in their 45 overs with Charlie Jackson undefeated on 84.

However, Paul Gallagher (123) and Mark Burns (62) made light work of the run chase with Gallagher’s innings coming from 126 balls.

Brooksbottom warmed up for their final debut with a 37-run win over Earby.

The Brox were struggling at 14-2 but Allan Armer launched a fightback with 82 from 98 balls.

Mian Ulhaq (23) and Zohaib Quershi (30) also helped the home side reach 208-9.

Matt Wilson and Fahid Rehman put on 66 for the first wicket and Earby were still in the hunt at 137-4. However, the visitors lost their last seven wickets for 34 with Ulhaq finishing with 5-27.

Sri Lankan Susantha Pradeep, the senior league’s leading run maker, added another 70 as Salesbury won by eight wickets at Euxton.

Tiaan Cloete hit 79 and took 7-64 but Great Harwood still lost by 27 runs at Settle for whom Tanwir Afzal claimed 6-83.
