CLITHEROE skipper Paul Gaskell wants his men to carry on as they have been going as they look to take another step towards the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League title tomorrow.

Gaskell’s men opened up a 13-point gap over closest challengers Read when they beat Kyle O’Connor’s men last weekend.

And they are looking for more of the same when Baxenden head to what is bound to be a lively Chatburn Road.

The game coincides with the club’s annual beer festival – and Gaskell wants his charges to turn in a display worth toasting.

“We are playing well and last week’s win over Read was a big one,” said Gaskell.

“But Baxenden is always a tough game and it’s a double header this weekend and if it goes wrong then that win will count for nothing.

“We need to keep doing what we have been doing and push on because there is a lot of cricket to still be played.”

Read skipper Kyle O’Connor has told his men to forget last weekend as they look to get back on track at Edenfield.

The defeat was only Read’s second of the season and they are close to full strength for the trip to Gincroft Lane where they meet an Edenfield side who are really in need of a boost after their run of one win in eight.

Third-placed Oswaldtwistle Immanuel are having their best season in the Senior League and they host Great Harwood in a big match at New Lane.

Jon Baldwin’s men have been a revelation this season but they face a stern examination against a Harwood side who can be brilliant on their day.

Barnoldwick are fourth and face a trip to Cherry Tree, who have slipped into the bottom two, while the only side below Cherry are Padiham.

Callum Clarke’s men won the basement battle with Mark Hadfield’s outfit last week and are desperate to follow that up with another win when Salesbury visit the Arbories.

Ribblesdale Wanderers face their former star David Howard for the fsecond time in two days as the all-rounders new club Whalley head to Church Meadow and Brooksbottom host Settle.

The day’s other game sees Earby look to follow up their remarkable win over Settle with another win as Euxton go to The Applegarth.
