TWO of Britain's royal family are on their way to Cumbria this month.

Final preparations have begun for the arrival of The Duchess of Cambridge and The Prince of Wales, who will be in the county at seperate events.

The Duchess is set to attend a volunteer training event at Great Tower Scout Activity Centre, near Newby Bridge, on Friday 22 March.

She will join up with around 20 other adult volunteers, learning new skills that will support her in her role as a helper at her local Scout Group.

Kate will use her training to help look after a group of 24 Cub Scouts from Cumbria and Manchester, who will have the chance to try out tree-climbing, outdoor cooking and fire-lighting.

Meanwhile, on March 28, The Prince of Wales will open the Land Rover Countryside Fund Bursary scheme and visit a driver training programme in Carnforth.

He will also visit the historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale to tour the market and local shops before making a trip to St Mary’s Church.

The 64-year-old will also visit HF Holidays’ Thorns Hall, Sedbergh during their centenary year before heading to Alston to meet with staff at Bonds Precision Castings.
