Andrew Rushton's big hitting paved the way for Read's thrilling PM & M Ramsbottom Cup victory over Baxenden.

Rushton's end of innings power plays saw Read amass 51 from the last two overs against last year's stunned runners-up.

Rushton finished unbeaten on 57 while Jonathan Harvey made 89 from a total of 242.

Dave Parkinson (51) and Ian Austin (56) kept Baxenden in the hunt.

And coming into the last over the home side required 10. A six was hit off the first ball but Baxenden endured five dot' balls to miss out by four runs.

Settle produced an upset against senior division high flyers Barnoldswick, going through to the last four thanks to a 14 run victory.

Professional Clinton Peake restricted Settle to 196-9 with 6-38 from 10 overs. Bret Silvey was the mainstay of Settle's innings with 79.

Matt Nutter made 67 but Barlick' were dismissed for 182.

Another close finish at the Arbories saw Padiham defeat Whalley by 11 runs. Abdul Saddique notched 50 and Anthony Hall 69 as Padiham made 215.

Richard Palmer contributed 58 in Whalley's reply but the visitors fell just short.

Ribblesdale Wanderers produced the biggest margin of victory against Clitheroe thanks to paid man Joe Scuderi.

Scuderi smashed an unbeaten 135 while Gary Hall gave him good support with 75 as Wanderers reached 289-4.

Paul Turner again provided the backbone of the Clitheroe reply with 73 and Matt Coulter scored 51.

However, the 2006 champions fell 54 runs short.

Because after seeing that joke of a wicket being scuffed up shaid afridi style when whalley needed 40 to win you haven't got a prayer he's a disgrace is siddique and he knows it. If your going to win at least fairly and i don't even follow either team but that would rile me any day of the week it was so blatant it was untrue and yet the umpires failed to act

Could not agree more with Colin. The wicket was a disgrace and the well known cheat Siddeque continues to cheat, begging and breaking evry rule in the book.I went along expecting to see a good game with two great batting pro's one cheated constantly and got away with it while the other got the biggest pea roller seen since my school yard days. The spirit of cricket my arse.Padiham get a proper groundsman and an honest pro.Whalley unlucky and well done for keeping your image and conduct clean.

I am a Padiham supporter and can agree that the wicket was an embarrassment and yes your pro got an awful pee roller, although it could be argued that it was the same for both teams. Overall it was good game and could have gone either way with Whalley still being in with a shout if their middle order would have performed better towards the end.

Neil,

Glad you admit the wicket was an embarrassment. But don't know where get the "your pro" bit from.No one from Whalley has commeted or I would like to think would be honest enoughto declare their i.d.Not to sure it was same for both side seems to get worse as the game went on especially when roller had worn off.

Mr Brown, I've no idea who you are and doubt you'd know me anyway. But in answer I was just sympathising and agreeing with Neutral's comment about Whalley's pro getting a pea roller. It was a good game and could have gone either way.
