STUART Maher returned figures of 7-45 as Veka Ribblesdale Senior League leaders Great Harwood wrapped up a convincing victory over Settle.

Maher's haul helped bowl out the home side for just 99.

And thanks to an unbeaten 36 from professional Syed Shahabuddin, Harwood claimed maximum points with a six-wicket victory.

An undefeated half century by John Pickup earned Barnoldswick an excellent away win at Cherry Tree.

The home team posted a useful 207-6 but Pickup's 53 steered Barlick' to a five wicket success.

Clitheroe recorded the highest total of the afternoon in their 77 run success over struggling Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.

Paul Turner contributed 86 and Nick James 70 out of 245. Ossie' were dimissed for 168.

Earby professional Ali Azmat made one of his best contributions of the new campaign as champions Blackburn Northern went down again.

Azmat fell three runs short of a deserved century in Earby's 219-9.

In reply, Northern could only muster 207.

Padiham followed up their double Bank Holiday success with a useful 10 points win over home side Ribblesdale Wanderers.

Lee Anderson hit 77 not out as Padiham reached 221-7.

Joe Scuderi struck a magnificent 135 the previous weekend against Settle.

This time he was still there at the end with 82 but Wanderers fell 31 runs short; Kashif Siddique claiming 6-62.

Baxenden, who defeated Whalley, and Read, who bowled out Edenfield for 111, were the day's other winners.

The league's highest score in division one where Mick Dewhurst made 144 out of Clitheroe's 251-4 against Oswaldtwistle.
