Palace Shield: Holden's eight in vain

PAUL Holden claimed eight wickets but Longridge were still beaten in the Palace Shield Premier Division as their clash at Freckleton avoided the rain.
Holden was in form with the ball and returned the impressive figures of 8-43 from an unbroken spell of 21.4 overs as Freckleton were bowled out for 119.
Longridge were confident of the win as they replied but lost early wickets and it took 26 from Luke Platt to steady the ship but wickets started to fall and Longridge were bowled out for 102.
Longridge seconds were rained off against Croston in Division One, while Hoghton beat White Coppice.
Anthony Moore top scored with 49 as the home posted 183-8 with James Thexton claiming four wickets.
Darren Eccles then totally cominated the game as he hit a magnificent 110 not out and Aaron Eccles was unbeaton on 70 as Hoghton strolled to 185-1.
Withnell Fold enjoyed a good win at Thorntion Cleveleys in Division Two as Stephen Booth returned the remarkable figures of 4-10 from 11.4 overs as Thornton were 79 all out chasing Fold’s 149 all out.
