Miller on top form takes 7-23

Kendal 162 Leyland 54 KENDAL go pot-hunting this Sunday in the Readers Cup final at Leyland and the two sides met for a dress rehearsal of the showpiece in last Saturday’s league programme.

Chris Miller’s side gleaned more satisfaction from the outcome, the skipper producing a scintillating spell of spin bowling to take seven wickets for 23 runs.

It lifted his haul for the season to 49 wickets and undermined Leyland's wavering hopes of any title challenge as they crashed to 54 all out.

Stu Parkin once again offered good support for 2-6 at the start of an outstanding weekend for the club.

Of the danger men, Luis Reece fell to a fine catch on the boundary off Miller and professional Brett Pelser was well caught by Nick Phillips at cover for a rare duck.

Miller made a wonderful catch to dismiss Peter Cummings off his own bowling.

Kendal professional Jamie How, who kept wicket as an emergency, top-scored with an impressive 41 after play began nearly half-an-hour late due to a saturated outfield.

Skipper David Makinson took 3-57 in Kendal's 162-9 after 46 overs, Jon Miles making 37 and Terry Hunte 27.

n The club has booked a coach to go to Leyland this Sunday for the Readers Cup Final (leaving 10.30am). Supporters wishing to travel should contact the club.
