Villagers suffer blow against Haworth

BARROWFORD’S hopes of forcing their way back up into title contention in Mewies Solicitors Craven and District Cricket League were dealt a blow when they suffered a defeat at the hands of high-flying Haworth.

Batting first at the Bull Holme Oval, Barrowford were all out for 127 with Ajmal Choudrhy (25) and skipper Andrew Smith (24) making the only contributions of note.

Despite Matthew Clarke striking two early blows to the Haworth reply, the visitors got over the line with relative ease with 11 overs to spare.

Pendle Forest had a good day in Division Two as they pulled further clear of the drop zone thanks to a rousing win over Oakworth at Old Laund Booth.

The home side posted 160 all out before Oakworth were shot out for 74.

Chris Brooker-Carey claimed four wickets as Foulridge won in style at Sandy Lane.

The skipper’s efforts helped to bowl Sandy Lane out for 137 before the batsmen took over.

Chris Gildea went for a duck but it was plain sailing after that point as David Spokes made a classy 82 not out and Andrew Dutton an equally impressive 47 not out as Foulridge romped to glory.

In a low scoring Division Three game, Chatburn came out on top against Skipton Church Institute.

Skipton decided to bat first and were bowled out for 55, Ben Threlfall with 5-24 was the pick of the Chatburn bowlers.

In reply Chatburn struggled to reach the target losing six wickets on their way to a tense victory.

Andy Lambert 16 and Steve Bowker 14 top scored.

Barrowford seconds lost their game at Haworth West End.
