SPIN star Jonathan Fielding is backing Ramsbottom to kick on this season as they bid to regain the Foster’s Lancashire League crown.
After Rammy’s first two games were washed out, they were rocked last Sunday at Rishton as home pro Dan Salpietro spun them out for just 77 on his way to figures of 8-28.
Rammy bounced back to form on Bank Holiday Monday when they beat Haslingden and Fielding is wanting more of the same in this weekend’s double header against Todmorden and Rawtenstall tomorrow.
“I suppose in one respect it’s good to get your bad one out of the way,” said Fielding.
“Salpietro is a good bowler and will cause sides problems – but we did ourselves no favours at all at Rishton.
“We batted dreadfully – but on Monday we were like chalk and cheese in beating Haslingden.
“We needed that win and this is a big weekend and we have two big games to play.
“Todmorden are a very good team and Rawtenstall can beat anyone.
“Last year we got 320 at Rawtenstall and they knocked them off – so I really hope there is no repeat of that.
“But if we can get through the weekend we should be in a decent position to kick on.”
