Haslingden duo land honours at Lancashire League awards

HASLINGDEN duo Joey Marcroft and Steve Dearden were among the Lancashire Telegraph award winners at the Lancashire League annual dinner.

Held at Burnley’s Turf Moor ground last Friday, Telegraph sports editor Paul Plunkett and cricket writer Matt Donlan were present to hand out special tankard prizes to the recipients.

Dearden picked up our batting prize for his magnificent 150 not out against Bacup in August when Haslingden set a new league record score at Bentgate.

Dearden enjoyed a fine 2009 season, blasting 786 runs at an average of 41.36.

His team-mate Marcroft took our wicket-keeping award after claiming six victims in his side’s match against Rawtenstall in June.

Rishton’s Shaun Hutchinson took the Telegraph’s bowling award for his stunning 8-29 against Church in June.
