County Cricket: Anderson to star against Swann and Broad
7:27am Wednesday 2nd May 2012 in Lancashire CCC
England ace James Anderson is all set to be unleashed for a rare Lancashire appearance today as the Red Rose make their County Championship return to Old Trafford.
England’s Burnley-born pace ace has been picked in a 13-man squad for the Division One game at a continually changing headquarters as Peter Moores’ men play their first four-day game for a year at ‘home’.
And the match has an added attraction thanks to Notts’ selection of their England stars.
England bowlers Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann will make their return for Nottinghamshire in the clash, which starts at 11am.
It will be Broad’s first game since recovering from a calf strain suffered on England’s tour of Sri Lanka.
Broad, 25, flew home after sustaining the injury during the first Test defeat in Colombo in March.
“It will be great getting back to Old Trafford,” said Moores. “The club have made a great effort. We’ve got temporary dressing rooms in the hospitality boxes, and we’re looking forward to it.”
Squad: Glen Chapple (capt), James Anderson, Karl Brown, Steven Croft, Gareth Cross (wkt), Kyle Hogg, Paul Horton, Simon Kerrigan, Sajid Mahmood, Stephen Moore, Ashwell Prince, Luke Procter, Tom Smith
