SIR Ian Botham believes his England Test-wicket record will be broken by James Anderson in the first Test against the West Indies.

The Burnley pace ace is four wickets shy of Botham’s record of 383 Test wickets and could pass the mark in his 100th Test in the ongoing match inAntigua.

And Botham, who believes the current West Indies side is one of the weakest he has ever seen, expects the Lancashire man to collect four wickets in the next few days.

Botham said: “Jimmy has been the leader of the English bowling attack for the last few years. He didn’t have a good World Cup and will be keen to return to form in this series.

“He’s probably got a year or two in him at least at this level and while bowling takes its toll, I’m sure he’ll go past the record at some point.”

And Botham admits he expects England to comfortably take the series victory in the Caribbean.

He added: “I expect England to win this series comfortably. I expect to gain confidence and the best way to gain confidence is to win.

“I think this is the weakest West Indian side I’ve ever seen and I don’t think I’m on my own with that view either.

“I’ll be very surprised if many of the games go beyond day four.”
