SCOTTISH Border club Gala travel to North Yorkshire on Sunday to take on Ribblesdale League side Settle in a special memorial match for one of the town’s best known and well respected sportsmen, Malcolm Davidson.
The match commemorates the lives of the former Marshfield captain and chairman, who died three years ago and former Gala and Scotland scrum half and Gala cricketer Dunc Paterson, two great friends and great servants of their respective clubs.
A full bus of players and supporters, along with members of the Paterson family will be making the trip, and it is fitting that the two teams are led by Andrew Davidson and Scott Paterson, the sons of Malcolm and Dunc, and the home team also includes four of Malcolm’s cricketing grand children who are making their mark in senior cricket.
The match, sponsored by “Friends of Mac” and Thwaites Brewery starts at 1pm.
