Longridge hopes hit

LONGRIDGE’S hopes of beating Moore and Smalley Palace Shield high-flyers Penwortham were hit by the weather as the Premier Division was hit by the rain.

The locals had restricted the visitors to 194-6 from 43 overs in the game at the Newsham Memorial Ground and were well set on 52-3 in their chase when the rain arrived.

Hoghton had a good win over Eccleston in Division One as Darren Eccles hit 70 as they posted 144-7. Edward Brown and Matt Parkinson then claimed three wickets each and Will Monks bagged a brace as Eccleston were 119-8 at the close.

Longridge seconds were beaten by Penwortham seconds despite Jamie Gale hitting 64, while Steve Cooke (59) and Antony Moore (53) both found their form as White Coppice piled up 227-7 against Fulwood and Broughton.

And their efforts were well backed by Wayne Dixon, who claimed 6-58 to make it 40 wickets for the season and also to move to 596 wickets for White Coppice as Fulwood were 148 all out.
