Harwood miss out in National T20

Great Harwood suffered frustration yesterday as their ECB National Club T20 adventure ended in defeat.

The league T20 champions travelled to the North East regional finals day at Oulton near Castleford.

But the weather held sway on a miserable day – and when the locals, who were not allowed to field professional Syed Shahabuddin due to competition rules, took to the field they lost to Great Ayton from Middlesbrough.

In the earlier game, competition favourites Chester-le-Street beat Methley.

The final between Chester-le-Street and Great Ayton was abandoned and will be played next week.
