Vinny sets new mark

RAWTENSTALL skipper and wicketkeeper Vinny Hanson wrote his name into his club’s record books on Saturday when he claimed four victims in his side’s win over Enfield.

Hanson two catches and two stumpings – three coming off veteran spinner Keith Roscoe – saw him pass the milestone of 447 Lancashire League victims set by Rawtenstall legend Brian Manning.

Manning’s mark came between 1957 and 1986, while Hanson’s debut came for his home club in 1996.

He also holds the club record for most victims in a season after claiming 46 in 2000. Roscoe claimed seven wickets in the match and now has 1,576 wickets across all Lancashire League competitions.
