Wonder whether any further disciplinary issues for Bash will follow?"

Ramsbottom Cup: Barlick sink the holders

MATT Nutter’s Barnoldswick marched into the last four of the Ramsbottom Cup last night as they ended the gutsy defence of Ribblesdale Wanderers.

Nutter’s Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League leaders, who have lost just one game all season in the LCB Lancashire Cup, went into the Victory Park clash against their Ribble Valley rivals as favourites.

But Wanderers, who stunned fancied Read to lift the silverware last season, did their bit as they made 214 with South African professional Michael Erlank top scoring with 89.

But Umar Saddique made a superb 90 not out for Barlick and skipper Nutter hit 53 as they got home by six wickets to set up a semi-final with Oswaldtwistle.

Immanuel, the league’s bottom side, will host this year’s final at their New Lane ground on July 29 – and they have a burning desire to make the showpiece.

And they rose to the occasion again yesterday as they beat Edenfield.

Stephen Sipocz claimed 3-33 and Jon Baldwin, Andrew Metcalf and Ramiz Hussain both claimed two wickets as Edenfield were bowled out for 117.

Immanuel set about their target with poise and eventually got home with six wickets to spare as Baldwin showed his all-round prowess making 49 not out in the victory.

The other semi-final will be a repeat of the 2012 final as Settle and Baxenden go head to head after wins over Clitheroe and Whalley respectively.

Baxenden are second in the table but faced the banana skin of a trip to Station Road for their clash with Whalley.

Richard Palmer’s men never recovered from losing Mark Fallon in the first over as wickets fell regularly but got up to 138 all out.

Bash didn’t have things all their own way as they chased the total down – but in the end they got home by five wickets.

And their semi-final with Settle promises to be a tasty clash after John Seedle’s men maintained their impressive form to beat Clitheroe. They were bowled out for 189 by Clitheroe in their clash at Chatburn Road before bowling the home side out for 165.

Results Barnoldswick 217-4 Ribblesdale W 214 Barnoldswick won by six wickets Oswaldtwistle I 21-4 Edenfield 117 Oswaldtwistle won by six wickets Clitheroe 165 Settle 189 Settle won by 19 runs Whalley 138 Baxenden 140-5 Baxenden won by five wickets
