LANCASHIRE League champions Burnley will open their 2016 campaign at last season’s bottom side Bacup.

Bharat Tripathi’s all-conquering side, who won every trophy going last term, visit Lanehead on April 17 before hosting Church in their first home game at Turf Moor.

Runners-up Enfield will be hoping to go one better in 2016 and they get their Lancashire League season under way with trips to Haslingden and Ramsbottom, before hosting Burnley on April 24 with a double-header taking place on the second week of the season.

The Rams, who will be captained by South African professional Daryn Smit in his third season with the club, travel to Rishton on the opening day of the season.

Elsewhere as the curtain raises on the new campaign, Accrington host Colne, East Lancashire travel to Lowerhouse, Nelson host Church and Rawtenstall are at Todmorden.

The Lancashire League season will conclude on September 11, 2016.

Burnley end their summer at Todmorden, while Enfield entertain Rishton, who finished 13th last term.

Accrington finish at home to East Lancashire, while Colne are at Bacup. Church travel to Haslingden on the final day, while Lowerhouse are at home to Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom finish at Nelson.

The eagerly-anticipated derbies between Burnley and Lowerhouse see the champions at Liverpool Road on May 29, before the return leg at Turf Moor on August 27.
