Having already won the Ron Singleton Trophy, the Lancashire League Twenty20 Cup and now the Worsley Cup, Burnley only have the league title to add - and they currently lead the table by 17 points.

Yesterday Burnley raced to a 118-run victory as the home side were bowled out for just 88.

Batting first, Vishal Tripathi lay the foundations for a solid Burnley innings with a fine knock of 60 which was worthy of the man of the match award.

Tripathi and professional Chris Holt got the holders off to a steady start, putting on 90 before the paid man was dismissed for 28, caught by Khurram Nazir off the bowling of Nelson sub pro Qaiser Abbas - one of four wickets he picked up.

Tripathi was then stumped by Russell Bradley off Abbas for 60 before David Brown was caught and bowled by Harrison Phelan.

Jonathan Clare, fresh from his unbeaten century against East Lancashire in the league on Saturday, was again in fine form with the bat as he kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Chris Burton went for 17, caught by Phelan off the bowling of Nazir and Burnley were 158-4 with 11 overs remaining.

Michael Brown came and went without making too much of impact, trapped lbw by Nazir for five.

With Burnley looking to get more runs on the board, Stephen Brunt cracked a four then was caught by Neil Thompson off Toqir Hussain for 11.

And Clare’s time at the crease came to an end when he was bowled by Abbas for 40 with three overs remaining.

Nazir and Abbas then cleaned up the Burnley tail-enders.

Bharat Tripathi was caught by Abbas off Nazir for three who also bowled Jhangir Liaqat for five.

Abbas trapped Cole Hayman leg before wicket for two with Tom Lawson the man not out on nought as Burnley closed on 206 all out.

To stand any chance of victory, Nelson desperately needed a solid start but Burnley made the early breakthrough – Russell Bradley cleaned bowled by Liaqat for two - and the hosts never recovered.

Fellow opener Lewis Bradley went for 12 and Phelan scored 10.

Sub professional Abbas, deputising for the absent Keshav Maharaj, put up stubborn resistance as wickets continued to fall regularly around him.

Captain Neil Thompson managed just six while Nazir scored just one.

Holt also took the wickets of Richard Meade, caught by Holt for five, and Sam Halstead, clean bowled for two.

But it was Cole Hayman who took the vital wicket of Abbas, caught by Burton for 33 which confirmed Burnley’s victory.
