LOWERHOUSE thrashed Bacup by 87 runs at Liverpool Road, writes Matthew Jones.

Lowerhouse won the toss and elected to bat, professional Cobus Pienaar went in the second over of the match.

Bacup restricted Lowerhouse to 5-1 off 3 overs, however Lowerhouse pair Jonny Whitehead and Matt Walker soon changed the game as four overs later they found themselves 80-1.

Then with the score on 132-1, man of the match Jonny Whitehead departed for an superb 82. Matt Walker carried on the rate until he was out for 60 with Lowerhouse posting an incredible 225-4.

Bacup fell well short of the Lowerhouse target as they finished on 138-7 after being 90-2 off 11 overs.

Meanwhile, Burnley have suffered there first defeat of this year’s t20 competition with a three run loss against Church at Blackburn Road. Levi Wolfenden top scored with 35 while professional Usman Tariq (23) and Craig Fergusson (21) helped Church post 123-6 which included a last ball six from Jack Gaskill.

Vishal Tripathi hit 66 but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat as Burnley fell three runs short.

In the other groups fixture Nelson overcame local rivals Colne in a dramatic game at the Horsefield as Nelson won by two wickets. Colne were bowled out for 102 as Holt made 18, whileUsman Khalid picked up four wickets.

Colne then took the game down to the last bowl as Nelson required one to win, but Sam Halstead hit a four to see them over the line.

In the Blond Witch Group, Ramsbottom maintain their 100 percent record with an 39 run win over Rishton at Acre Bottom. Callum Kay top scored with an unbeaten 45 as Ramsbottom closed on 130-4.

Rishton could only manage 91-9 as they fell short by 39 runs.

Enfield beat Rawtenstall by seven wickets at Dill Hall Lane. Batting first, Rawtenstall posted 150 off their 20 overs including scores from professional Brett Pelser (30).

Adam Bracewell and Graham Van Buuren added 30 until Bracewell departed for 13. Tiarnen Hamill put on 21 with Van Buuren before he was removed by Pelser but Charlie Jackson and Van Buuren saw Enfield home as Van Buuren past his half century.

Accrington are still without a win as they lost by five wickets against East Lancs at Alexandra Meadows. East Lancs won the toss and elected to bowl, professional JP de Villiers took (3-4), Mo Bhada (3-22) and Mini Bhada (1-4) as Accrington were bowled out for 92 in 18.2 overs. Man of the match Stuart Crabtree top scored with 46.

In reply, John Turner hit an unbeaten 26 and JP de Villiers top scored with 28 as East Lancs finished on 93-5 as they reached Accrington’s target with one over to spare. Jake Clarke took (2-16) whilst Joe Lloyd (1-15).
