JAKE Neary inspired Haslingden to a crushing victory over Accrington on Saturday as Alex Coleman’s men got their first win of the season in style.

The Blackburn pace ace took a career best 5-18 as Accrington were bowled out for just 59 as Haslingden won by 106 runs.

Neary sent back Ramiz Hussain (2), professional Ockert Erasmus (7), Keiren Grimshaw (3), Graeme Sneddon (4) and Jacob Clarke (15) during his devastating eight over spell.

Haslingden made 197-5 in a 45 overs a-side game after being put in to bat.

They were initially in a spot of bother at 38-3 before Coleman made a fine innings of 71 from 77 balls and containing six fours.

Alex Jeffrey made an unbeaten 43 while Alex Marcroft added 43 before rain reduced Accrington’s target to 165 from 35 overs but Neary ensured they got nowhere near that total.

Todmorden eased to an eight wicket win over Rishton, who were bowled out for 78.

Martin Harlow (5-32) and professional Tim van de Gugten (3-30) did the damage with Kelly Smuts top scoring with 24 as Rishton lost their last eight wickets for just 27 runs.

Ben Sutcliffe’s unbeaten 34 saw Todmorden home inside just 21 overs.

An unbeaten century by stand-in skipper Levi Wolfenden swept Church to a 10 wicket win at Rawtenstall.

Wolfenden smashed fifteen fours and four sixes in making an unbeaten 103 from just 66 balls as Church chased down 149 with ease.

Wolfenden had earlier taken three wickets, as had Usman Tariq while Kamran Basharat took 3-54 as Rawtenstall were bowled out for 149. Chris Cook-Martin top scored with 38.

East Lancs secured an eight-wicket victory on run rate over Colne.

Minhaj Bhada took 4-48 as Colne were dismissed for 156 with Ammad Akram the best of the batsman as he made 28.

Rain then reduced the East Lancs target to 115 with John Turner finishing unbeaten on 47 while professional JP de Villiers made 37 not out to complete the win.

Bacup professional Haseeb Azam took 8-26 to help his side to a 47-run success over Nelson.

Bacup batted first and made 192-7 thanks to Tim Farragher’s 31 and captain Matt Thompson’s 43.

Azam then came to the fore as his devastating spell saw Nelson bowled out for 145 with Harrison Phelan top scoring with 26.

Champions Lowerhouse won the big game of the weekend as they secured a seven wicket away victory over Ramsbottom.

Lowerhouse professional Cobus Pienaar was the deciding factor as he took 5-51 as the hosts were dismissed for Pienaar then made an unbeaten 59 to see his side over the line.

Ramsbottom never got going as they stuttered to 15-4 and 31-5 before Daryn Smit made 92 to help them up to a defendable total.

But Pienaar and an unbeaten 58 from Matt Walker ensured the champions took the points.

Burnley were also winners as Vishal Tripathi hit 78 in their victory over Enfield.

The home side made 221-9 with Bharat Tripathi hitting 42 in a commanding score. Chris Bowness was the pick of the Enfield bowlers with 3-41.

Rain then reduced the target to 208 from 44 overs but Cole Hayman’s 4-40 helped Burnley reduce the visitors to 157 all out with Tiarnan Hamill top scoring with 33.

Sunday saw Rishton secure their first win of the season as they defeated Nelson by seven wickets.

Rishton professional Kelly Smuts took 6-23 and then hit an unbeaten 67 to see his side chase down Nelson’s 111.

Bacup’s struggles continued as they were dismissed for just 66 in reply to a reachable target of 123 set by East Lancs at Lanehead.

Champions Lowerhouse made it three wins out of three and heaped more misery on Accrington with a superb bowling performance.

After Accrington professional Ockert Erasmus took 6-47 to restrict Lowerhouse to 135-9, the visitors folded with the bat as they slumped to 60-7 before eventually being dismissed for 98.

Haslingden made it back-to-back victories as they beat Todmorden by 111 runs while Burnley’s good start continued as they won at Church. The visitors made 208-9 and that proved enough as the hosts were bowled out for 180.

There were also wins for Ramsbottom, over Enfield, and Rawtenstall against Colne.
