BACUP’S Tim Farragher had an eventful weekend as he tasted the highs and lows of Foster’s Lancashire League cricket.
The 31-year-old batsman rushed from work to play for Bacup in the Moorhouse’s Twenty20 on Friday night but must have wondered why he bothered when he was trapped leg before wicket by Simon Read with the very first ball of the match at Ramsbottom.
Saturday was even more eventful for Farragher as he was run out by team-mate and former skipper Peter Killelea – who has returned to action after four years in retirement – when on nine in the game with Rishton.
But that game at least ended on a high note for Bacup as they won a thriller by eight runs with Farragher claiming three catches and a stumping as he took on wicketkeeping duties from the unavailable Matt Collinge.
The on Sunday Farragher made a marvellous 101 not out at leaders Lowerhouse only to finish on the losing side.
“I suppose that’s the highs and lows of league cricket,” laughed Farragher.
