Coppice eye new faces

First published in Cricket

ONE of the county’s oldest and most picturesque cricket clubs is looking for new players for the forthcoming 2013 season.

The village of White Coppice has fewer than 100 residents but only one – Chris Oakden – plays for the White Coppice Cricket Club, which dates back to 1876.

The club play in Division One and Division Three of the Palace Shield League and narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier Division a couple of seasons ago.

The ground is on the edge on the West Pennine Moors and is a stopping off point for hundreds of walkers every weekend.

Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend White Coppice’s pre-season nets at Parklands High School, in Chorley, on Monday March 11, 18 and 25 between 7pm and 8pm.
