Carlisle United Reserves 1 Burnley Reserves 1

ALEX McDonald scored his fifth goal for Burnley Reserves to earn a point at Carlisle United tonight.

The Clarets fielded a young side for their penultimate Pontin's League game at Brunton Park, and it was the hosts who took the lead in the first half.

But MacDonald, who has been in impressive form for the second string in recent weeks, got Burnley back on level terms just before the break.

James Craggs was put through for a chance, only to be denied by the goalkeeper, but MacDonald seized the rebound and volleyed it home from 25 yards.

Under 16 striker Dominic Knowles was drafted into the squad and replaced MacDonald in the second half.

And the youngster had the chance to snatch a winner after rounding the goalkeeper, but had his effort cleared off the line.

Burnley Reserves: Ritchie; Stott, Kudiersky, (Lomas), Lynch, Bradley; Craggs, Kay, Anderson, Craig; Turner, MacDonald (Knowles).
