Full-time: Southampton 0 Burnley 1

STEVEN Caldwell's second goal of the season was enough to earn Burnley a ninth away win.

The Clarets captain took advantage of a static defence in first-half stoppage time to head in Robbie Blake's perfectly placed corner.

It was only seconds beforehand that Richard Wright had made his first save, as he tipped over Chris McCann's header.

And it was from the resultant set piece that Burnley grabbed the lead.

Jensen, too, had only just been called into action, as he did well to parry Andrew Surman's shot from distance.

But he was kept much busier in the second half by a Southampton side desperate to avoid relegation.

However, the Danish stopper was on top form to Inigo Idiakez and Youssef Safri, who both produced excellent shots from distance in the final 15 minutes.

In between those chances, Clarke Carlisle had a header bundled off the line from another Blake corner.

Well done to Brian Jensen, my fellow Scandinavian!

It was all Southampton!

Fair play you guys where able to take your chance when we where unable to convert any of the hatful that we created.

Where a number of "clumsy"(benefit of the doubt) challenges that went unpunished and this allowed Burnley to break the game up.

That being said we cant blame anyone else for the position!

best of luck for next season, I hope that we are playing you!

Where has it gone wrong for you guys. You seemed a decent side at the turf earlier in the season.
How has Wayne Thomas played?

Well this was very pleasing for me on two fronts. Not only did the team i have supported for the last 36 years win(fantastic) but also being born and bred in Portsmouth makes the win so much sweeter beating the SCUMMERS.
As for the game it was'nt great but there again we were playing against 12. The ref was poor booking any burnley player for a good strong tackle.
There were some individuals in the claret and blue who played well but one or two who did not.I thought Jensen had a good game as did caldwell to name a couple although i thought jorden has lost confidence.
We seem to play in patches today no thanks to the ref but also we kept giving the ball away far too much.
All in all to play below par and still beat the SCUMMERS(Play up Pompey) has given me an early birthday present.
I hope all you clarets who made the long trip down have had a good trip back.Roll on next season. UTC

Great win to lift the spirits after a disappointing recent run. Owen Coyle now needs to spend wisely in the summer so we can finally sustain a challenge for promotion next season.

You can't write or spell and you can't read either. Who's Jansen? I don't think you're a true supporter, you don't know who're in the team. I told you there's an imposter who's using Caps Lock. What will ya be whinging about this week then?

Well said Olav. I think Jensen was are man of the match yesterday he pulled off some good saves.Yes he has dropped a couple of clangers this season but his superb stops have saved us points and won us games far more than losing points.UTC

going up going up going up. to 12th place.

where is this young shankly fella we got as manager.

next season is gonna be even harder. derby, fulham, and whoever else are gonna add to what we fail to beat this season. and other teams around us will be better than our 30+ players.

no point hoping for premier football cos we arent equipped for it. just hoping for servival.

Come on fella's. lets just put some things into perspective. Firstly, stop dissing TopCats litracy on here, most of us are crap, as for myself i'm not but my typing is poor which i suspect is the cause of most peoples illitracy! Secondly, Olav, you put some really stupid comments on here, fair enough everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some of the sturr you write, probably due to your blind sightedness is utter Bollock5!Another thing you do become very personal in your statements, stop it! i know you are not the only onebut this is supposed to be a football forum about BFC, so Olav, FVCK OFF! Support a
Scandanavian team or something.........

Let not forget, the CLarets have brought their own demise. Brian and Gabor, Both **** too many clangers, sod the the new contract, they bothneed ousting and we need a decent keeper. Sould have made a real push to sign Ben Foster on loan, because i bet you he'll be out on loan in the Championship next season. Lets just see what happens over the summer. I do hope Coyle is given the funds to build his own team with his own visions. 7 points of so far, not a massive margin to pull back next year. Also think if Andy Gray had stopped with us, we could have been in the play offs, but hey ho, non of us would turn down double our pays would we. If you say you would yr taklin utter crap. Who knows, maybe Kyle will stay, cant see it, yet just more PR spiel from the club. But good win this weekend, too little too late though, the table makes for sad reading, gutted! Spend in the summer please Mr Flood and Kilby

1. I've been called gullible and Kilby/Flood's puppet and many other things, so I suppose I'm entitled to my own crass statements about top cat. Well, I guess I should learn from you and not become personal. Also, I've been supporting Burnley since 1962. Is there anything called a Scandinavian team? My NORWEGIAN team is Viking Stavanger.
2. Andy Gray stopped scoring on Dec 1 in London. I bet Charlton are chuffed.
