Half-time: Burnley 0 Sheffield United 1

A SUPERB James Beattie free kick seperated these two sides at the break.

Clear cut chances were limited, and it needed something as special as the former Everton and Southampton striker's 35-yard rocket broke the deadlock just after the half-hour.

Burnley had their best opportunities after that, with James O'Connor and David Unsworth going close.

The Blades, meanwhile, offered little after their goal, and the Clarets can count themselves unlucky to be behind at this stage.

Before we hear the usual doom and gloom and "Coyle" is not the answer; lets look at a few facts.
Recently it was stated Cotterill left because he couldnt sign Cahill and Bardsley on loan-realistically they were only ever heading one way-Premier League.
Did he walk or was he pushed (who cares)-I am the last one to defend the board, but Cotteril should have gone last season, and yes he was pushed based on his performance in the transfer market.
The results are there for all to see-Akinbiyil, Caldwell, Gudjonsson, Jordan and the last straw Alexander-not seen them have a decent game all season (Preston must have thought it was Xmas when we paid £200,000 for him)
The football was awful, and if Cotts was so good he would have been back in management by now.
However, close season is going to be interesting-the board along with Owen Coyle will have to deliver-otherwise oblivion!
