Full-time: Norwich City 2 Burnley 0

HANDS UP IF YOU WANT THE BALL: Clarets striker Kyle Lafferty shields possession away from young Norwich defender Alex Pearce at Carrow Road,

BURNLEY will almost certainly have to wait until next season before reviving their promotion ambitions after this disappointing show at Carrow Road.

The Clarets struggled to recover from the early blow inflicted by Dion Dublin, when the veteran found himself completely unmarked to put Norwich in front after just 61 seconds.

It looked like staying that way, despite the Canaries carving out a host of chances. But second-half substitute Ched Evans put the win beyond doubt in stoppage time to ease their relegation fears.

Kyle Lafferty squandered a couple of good openings for the Clarets, while Joey Gudjonsson brought a good save from David Marshall before the break.

But Burnley can have no complaints about the outcome.

i agree --- need alot of investment for new players n get rid of the old players who do **** all for example ade has been **** all season why on earth did we bring him back to the club ... burnley for u i suppose lol

"WIN THE NEXT 6 MATCHES TO KEEP OUR SEASON ALIVE" WAS OWEN COYLE'S PLEA TO THE PLAYERS.
THEY COULD NOT EVEN MANAGE TO WIN 2 WHICH JUST SHOWS THAT OWEN COYLE IS NOT THE MANAGER TO INSPIRE THE PLAYERS AND TO GET THE BEST OUT OF THEM. "THE NEW BILL SHANKLY"? I THINK NOT.

Spot on Hassybloke, although it was never really on, never ever got close to challenging for a play off spot, never mind the push for the prem spin, the Club have been plugging on the Club website. A teams performance over the season can be judged by the goal difference and look at ours, which sums it all up.
This team is so predictable all play going through Elliot and when he's off so are the rest. Gudjonsson and Caldwell are two of the worst players ever to don the Claret and Blue. The current defence is possibly the worst I have seen in my lifetime and cant be far short of the world record for the oldest ever defence, flat footed with no pace at all and no quality between the sticks. No holding player in the middle, cannot keep possession, no wonder weve been turned over by a very poor Norwich side, sums us up though.
I'm afraid Coyle cannot cut it down here. He keeps persisting with Gudjonsson who has yet to have a good game for Burnley, a player who has had so many clubs at such a young age it tells a story in itself. I'd transfer list 80 percent of the current staff, out of todays team only Elliott, Blake and Lafferty are worth keeping, and we know lafferty will be sold in the summer. I once rated McCann but he too is now not up to the standard in this league. It was bad enough under Cotterill having to watch boring, negative style of play, but at least he could attract players to the club, Coyle cannot even do that ( and that includes from North of the border). Wont even give Randal a decent run out. He's already planning for next season by casting an eye over free transfer targets and trialists, so that shows where this clubs ambitions lie. I would suggest they scrap these ridiculous stadium plans and invest in a football team to make the fans proud. I'd much rather be standing in the open, getting wet through watching good quality football than this crap this season. But for Andy Grays goals earlier in the season we'd be in a relegation fight, never mind promotion. I cant remember coming off from a match for year now saying " Yes we murdered them ", every win we have is a scaped win. This clubs running off 50 per cent smaller gates than when Ternent was here, which is all down to Kilby and this muppet he's brought in. His property company wont be making any money out of this stadium rebuild will they?. This club is now on the fast road to oblivion, and who in their right mind bought a season ticket believing they'd get one free next season if the club won promotion, he's certainly one big con artist that kilby, talk about making millions from manufacturing lottery tickets, he made a few bob from the current batch of mugs. We were never gonna make the play-off. Poor all round performance. This was probably our best chance for promotion to the premiership, but yet again due to lack of funding, and very poor bids on players we failed. Need serious spending in the summer. Lets hope Flood and Kilby back the manager, lets hope he's savvy enough to bring in some quality players and has the correct contacts, SOUTH OF THE BORDER. Hey ho.......still, good news that the players hav got permission for their new changing rooms, what have the supporters got yet again this season? Sweet FA, thats what. Thats all i'm gonna write, so Bye!

What is the most worrying thing is that we need to invest this summer so that we stop in the league next season , this will cost more than it would have done to have a serious attempt in Jan. for the climb up.
Agree we should clear out from the top , we are a joke team of oaps with a joke manager.
At this stage send back all the loans , release the retained list and get thekids in , lets see some people out there who want to play for the claret and blue , in fact get the clubs supportes team to play , they at least would be[interested

That's it, leave yourself wide open with comments like that. Burnley are the small town club. I reckon even smaller than Stanley. I think you have wasted your dole money this season as you will still be in the Chumpionship next season with a crap club, board and no cash while ROVERS WILL STILL BE IN THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD. So off you go and cry in the corner you crettin.

Great, does this mean we won't have to put up with your childish tantrums every time BFC lose.
Anyway enjoy next season when your doing the shopping on a Sat afternoon. I will be down the Turf with all the rest of the TRUE fans. Thanks for your time and effort this season. I travel for an hour and a half to home games it costs me more in petrol than it does for your season ticket. I've said before on here if you want to follow a team than can spend £50 million every summer, wins most weeks and attracts crowds in excess of 65000 go to Manchester. This is what supporting a small club like Burnley is all about. The good times don't come along very often but when they do we enjoy them. It is obvious you have the club at heart but this is when we need support not people saying they will never go again. I thought Coyle was the right man when he came and I still think he is.

serious investment is required for next season,i would guess about £2 million to stay in the division.there are players going to leave some sold others returning to their clubs,i would estimate at about 7 not being with us next year.duff and besh returning still leaves us 5 short of what already is a very small squad.i hope the board give coyle some cash if only to prove himself.our football is better under coyle but i believe a manager is only as good as his players and we are short of class in this squad.coyle does however need to motivate players better, some of the performances of late have been gutless.hope that in the near future we are not playing in a new stadium in division 1 because without investment in players this will happen.

Ite said i'll costs me another 20quid to travel to burnley fo home games, so is very expensive. I can understand how we are all feeling, believe me i've been very angry on here recently. I've said i'll boycot gong to games, but no matter what i still suppport the Clarets.

After sitting down, talking in the pub and thinking its not the way to do it. i love burnley and could not think of sitting at home watchin Jeff Stelling telling us our scores as they come through, thats not good!

But i do think the board have to do the right thing and put money in the kitty to get the fans back on side and thinking more positive....or at least be honest with us and say "listen all you supporters, we have no money". If this is the case the board would get a lot more respect and support for just telling the truth.

After reassessing the overall situation, i think the money from transfers will be released in the summer, after all whats the point inpaying inflated transfer prices in the Jan window. I also beieve that looking back from what has been said, the aim was not to get there this season, the premiership would have been a bonus! But maybe if we had have bought in a few players we may have had a better chance.

I really do hope Coyle has the know how, this is not his team after all. A big re build over the summer is required. If this does not happen, and the board promise that it will, then lets start talking about not buying season tickets and taking action. Until then keep the faith and lets just see what happens over the summer. I think ther'll be plenty of changes.

Keep positive, i've had a bad month or so, but it could be ever so worse. UTC

The league table does not lie at the end of the day. We are in free fall.....again. And some drastic investment needs putting in over the summer. I really hope it happens. I agree wi Top Cat there. Selling good players is not progression, and if Kyle goes, which i imagine he will at the fourth time of askin from Celtic, it will be a shame. He's a little inconsistant, but he's been played out of position most of season! I think he'd be fantastic week in week out in his rightful place. But yes selling our top players is def not progresion, especially if we dont replace them with equal quality of if indeed at all. I really hope the majority of us on here are wrong, but our team does need significant investment.... And to re itterate a comment i put on here weeks ago, if Burnley FC are iondeed loosing so much money, why are successful businessmen pumping money into a failing business. Supporters of the club or not, no sensible businessman would be willing to loose so much money, its just not an option!

UTC!

BRENDAN FLOOD'S STATED AMBITION AT THE START OF THIS SEASON WAS A DESIRE TO FINISH ABOVE PNE. THEY MAY JUST ABOUT SCRAPE HOME - BUT ONLY JUST. WHEN THE AMBITION IS SO LIMITED IT SHOULD NOT BE ANY REAL SURPRISE THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO REAL INVESTMENT IN BRINGING IN QUALITY
PLAYERS.

I appologise mate I don't know who you are, I don't tend to stay around too long after matches as I have 110 miles to go. If I lived local I might know you. No I'm not 19 I'm 53 and been following BFC since I was six. So I think I have probably spent a little more than you. Billy Hamilton! I go back to Blacklaw, Elder,Adamson,Miller
, Cummings,Pointer, Mcllroy etc,etc so I think I also have the right to comment on here. And YES I WAS AT NORWICH yesterday not that this makes much difference. It's not a case of how much you or I have spent watching or if we go to games or not it's a case of sticking with the club and supporting through thick and thin.
And Bluenwhite, why don't you go and boil your head you muppet.
