STEVE Jones marked his return from injury by scoring the winner against Chester City reserves last night.
The striker hasn't featured for two months since limping out of the win at Coventry City with knee ligament damage.
But he stepped up his recovery by playing as a lone striker against Chester, in a fluid 4-5-1 formation that brought plenty of chances before the deadlock was broken three minutes into the second half.

Jones met Steven Caldwell's neat pullback powerfully, and although Phillip Palethorpe got at least one hand to it, the Chester goalkeeper couldn't keep it out.
The Clarets, who had Richard Jones on trial from Manchester United, enjoyed a handful of first-half chances, with moves carved out mainly down the left flank and through the middle.
And Jones could have had a hat-trick had he been able to make more of opportunities either side of his goal.
After Garreth O'Connor's low volley was well kept out by Palethorpe, and Kieran Morrin clipped the top of the crossbar with a header from a corner at the opposite end, Jones ran onto a ball into the box but, instead of shooting first time, cut it onto his right foot and bent it wide.
Soon after putting Burnley in front, Jones failed to but the seal on a fine solo run from Mahon as he hit the outside of the post.
In defence, Michael Duff looked comfortable and controlled at centre half in his fourth consecutive comeback game.
BURNLEY: Brian Jensen; Dean Stott (Alex McDonald 46), Michael Duff, Steven Caldwell (Chris Lynch 65), Stephen Jordan; Garreth O'Connor, Mark Randall, John Spicer, Richard Jones, Alan Mahon (Wes Fletcher 65); Steve Jones.
