BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle has revealed he intends to make at least FIVE summer signings, regardless of whether the five players who have been offered new deals agree terms or not.
The Clarets boss has not given the quintet - made up of David Unsworth, Brian Jensen, James O'Connor, Jon Harley and Jay Rodriguez - a specific deadline to come to a decision.
But he admitted time is of the essence so that he can make definite plans for next season.

And, although Coyle is remaining tight-lipped about his wanted list, he said that two of his targets would command a transfer fee.
"The ones we're targeting are not just Bosmans, a couple of them will have transfer fees," he said.
"Obviously that will involve talks and negotiations with their respective clubs as well.
"We will not get them all, but ideally, we would love to get a percentage."
Coyle, who has released midfielders Garreth O'Connor and John Spicer, and has revealed he will listen to offers for Gabor Kiraly, added: "There's been a few places freed up, but we didn't have a big squad anyway, so I'm still looking to bring in five, possibly six new players."
Of the five players offered terms Coyle continued: "I gave them an initial offer and they are what they are. We won't be looking to get them improved.
"There won't be a timescale as such, but the sooner the better.
"I'll give them a couple of days and get back to them. I've already got my targets in mind and, if the lads have offers from elsewhere, which they might very well have, that's the risk you run when you leave it until the end of the season.
"But I've said before, I only want people who want to be part of this football club."

Accrington stanley have released 12 players so burnley might get some of them if they want to stay in the area and dont mind playing a lower standard of football.

Of course not, because it is sadly lacking judging by these babyish drivel.

This Coyle guy is a duffer and taking the club down. Two of the players he will be signing will require a fee, one million a piece i hope, No not a chance on that front. Over two and a half million brought in from the sale of Gray and Thomas, as well as the probability of a tidy sum for Cofie, yet nothing spent in the January transfer window, awaiting the summer spending spree. Well the spree is about to start he is after 5 players. You could add five quality players like lampard, Scholes, Terry, Hleb and Owen to this current bunch and they would struggle to make it to the top half of the table. Free transfer left overs from scotland that have been rejected by Sturrock and Irvine who will get the best bunch. How can a club progress with such little speculation and investment on new talent. Does Coyle expect to turn this bunch of no hopers into world beaters during the off season, Akinbyi is coming back as Drogba?. Caldwell as ferdinand?, I think not.
This is without doubt the slowest, predictable Burnley sqaud there has been for over 15 years. Elliott signed a new deal, big deal, one goal a season and 10 decent games, he's a real star. Can you believe this fella also wants to keep Harley, spends more time on his backside than off it, and the club were ready to ditch O'Connor before Coyle arrived.
How many fans do they expect to attract, gates are down 50 per cent from Ternent's days. To be getting only 10-11,000 through the turnstiles (which includes thousands of free tickets this season) must tell kilby and flood the picture that the fans are **** off, yet they come out with the same predictable drivvle in order to boost season ticket sales. Another season of crap football passes with scraped wins and poor performances. Saturdays are for mowing the lawn from now on.

Why all the surprise over lack of transfer activity?
I was predicting on this site over 6 weeks ago that there was no "war chest" exceeding £1.5 to £2 million unless Lafferty was sold.
Are you going for stripes or just a straight cut?

How can any genuine and realitic Burnley fan NOT be negative, given the rubbish that the board, the manager and even the players are now feeding to us?
On a positive note - Coyle has identified that the squad needs AT LEAST FIVE new signings.
On a more negative note - how will this be funded?
This is going to be a vital season for Burnley football club. The problem is that if Coyle spends the budget over the summer, and then gets fired, which most of you are predicting, then the new manager will not have any funds for new signings!
Again, the term TIGHT LIPPED is being used. This will be a common phrase over the summer - the board will not reveal how much we have to speand due to the fear of clubs inflating the prices for their players, and as they will not want their targets being approached by other clubs - this latter point I can understand!
Come on Brendan and Barry - lets be straight with the fans and try and get a few more back on-side and through the turnstiles!
I know I aint going on the Turf next season unless I see some investment. I know this sounds sad, but I may as well stay at home and watch Soccer Saturday and save my £20, rather than watch what I had to put up with last Season! Its my money, and i'll spend it how I please, and unfortunately, Burnley FC isn't a very attractive proposition at this stage!

So far OC has been unsuccessful to lure new players in the inter-season , If he really wants to see a successful face of Burnley ,he has to have recourse to new players .recruiting five or six players for next season is most welcome .He has to get rid of some non-performing players who because of old age or injuries sustained have become dull actors on the pitch .

For goodness sake, Owen Coyle's only been here 5-6 months or so. Give him the summer and he will recruit some decent players.
The money we are spending on the ground can not be taken out for players. Banks will give money for buildings but not for players; so the £30m we are investing on Turf Moor will be great. Hopefully the board will give Coyle £1.5m to spend, but lets wait and see. Wear that shirt in pride Burnley fans and lets not get to disheartened. We are the MIGHTY CLARETS!

We(Burnley fc) were not a million miles away from challenging for the premiership and i don't see a runnaway champion next season.
