THE future of Andrew Cole is currently out of Burnley manager Owen Coyle's hands.
The Clarets boss is keen to retain the services of the former, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and England striker Cole.
However, following the end of his three-month loan spell, the striker has returned to Sunderland, where he will wait to find out whether or not his services are required by manager Roy Keane next season.

The Black Cats boss is expected to meet his six out of contract players tomorrow, with only Dwight Yorke expected to be kept on.
"Andrew goes back to Sunderland and if they decide not to offer him anything, then obviously we will have a chat," confirmed Coyle, who is hoping to have done enough to persuade Cole against retiring.

If I was the Burnley manager the only players I would have are (please no abuse),
3 years on contract left - Elliott
2 years on contract left - Duff
Lafferty
McCann
Blake
Carlisle
Berisha
1 year left on contract - Mahon
Akinbiyi
And keep the young lads - Rodriguez
McDonald
Kay
Out of the others I think I would not keep cos they are poor, had a bad season or past it.
So 12 players kept. There is no way that Burnley are going to get rid of 10 to 12 players.
I was expecting 10 players to go and about ten players to come in but we do not have the finances; so we have to keep some of the players who are poor, even if we like it or not.
3 players out in Spicer, Garreth O'Connor and possibly Kiraly.
The 3 loan players gone back Varga, Cole and Randall.
Makes it 5 gone, possibly 6 with Kiraly.
The 5 players who we have offered contracts to doesn't mean they are going to accept them.
Harley
Jensen
Unsworth
O'Connor
Rodriguez
I think Unsworth will sign because of a player/coach role is good.
Rodriguez likewise, plus Jensen is settled down in East Lancashire.
Harley will go and I am not certain with O'Connor.
Stop moaning and get behind OWEN COYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!
UP THE CLARETS!!!!
Paul :)

Very good appraisal and summary Paul. A top keeper plus a big powerful and skilful midfielder plus a pacey left winger- will transform our chances next year. UTC

We're all football managers aren't we? But a reasonable comment by Paul. On football Manager the Burnley board only gives me a budget on £80k. The only players I can sign is Chris Sutton & big Dunc Ferguson! Hope Coyle and the board do better than me

if the rest sign contracts i can only see us replacing the two who are going.this squad is not good enough by miles.unless the summer spending spree comes to fruition we are relegation candidates next season.we need to get rid of gareth o'connor, unsworth despite his coaching ability, jones, jordan
,carlisle,we don't need cole he is too old.no return for randall or varga.we need at least 10 new layers without these its going to be a rough season,no chance of play offs.
