BURNLEY boss Owen Coyle explained the reasons behind a selection process for the Preston North End game.

Coyle restored Brian Jensen in goal but left on-loan Arsenal midfielder Mark Randall out of the squad.

"I've said to each and every player, if you come in and do well you will stay in the team.

"Brian knows when he was in he made a couple of big mistakes, and Gabor would probably recognise there were mistakes made last week as well, so that was the basis for the decision," he said.

And Randall was left out because....What a brilliant piece of publishing.

So, if a player comes in and does well, he can stay in the team? Makes good sense.

So, why are the likes of Gudjonsson, Alexander and Akinbiyi still in the team?

If I was a club manager and Burnley were interested in signing one of my players, I would have to reject them because they would simply not play them. I feel so sorry for the like of Cole and, more so, Randall. He has come up here on loan from Arsenal with a view to getting some first team experience - and what has he got, not much of that much cherished experience.

Why are the club wasting their time and effort of maiking loan signings if they are not going to utilise them.

Whenever Randall has come on, he has looked a quality player - far better than the likes of Gudjonsson, who makes the team each week.

Andy Cole - one of the Premier leagues all-time top strikers. I know he has had injury problems, but should he not be playing on a more regular basis? Should Akinbiyi be keeping him out of the team?
