BURNLEY midfielder Chris McCann has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland U21 squad.
McCann, who returned to the Clarets side at Preston on Saturday after missing three games with a groin injury, had hoped to earn his first cap at U21 level.
But the 20-year-old has not linked up with the Irish for Tuesday's UEFA qualifier against Montenegro.

However, the Clarets will still be represented on the international stage this week after both Graham Alexander and Kyle Lafferty joined the Scotland and Northern Ireland squads respectively ahead of their midweek internationals.
Alexander will hope to win the favour of new Scotland boss George Burley for Wednesday's Hampden Park friendly against Croatia.
Lafferty has shaken off a dead leg sustained at Deepdale to join Nigel Worthington's squad for the friendly against Georgia at Windsor Park the same night.
Steve Jones, who was on stand-by for the Irish squad, has not been called up despite several withdrawals.
