GISBURN-BASED boxer Kenny Anderson believes he deserves another title shot at George Groves after a third-round knock-out victory over Paul Morby on Saturday.
The Scot, who is trained by East Lancashire promoter Kevin Maree, came close to stopping Groves and pulling off a major upset last year before the Londoner came back to win their Commonwealth super middleweight bout in the sixth round.
Groves has since gone on to claim the British title against James DeGale and is now due to defend his belts against Paul Smith on December 5.
Anderson, though, believes he is due a rematch and felt he proved his credentials with a convincing win over Morby on the undercard of Kell Brook’s fight with Rafal Jackiewicz in Sheffield, having also knocked the Portsmouth boxer down in round two.
“The people I want are the people with titles,” said Anderson, below, a gold medallist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
“That’s where I feel I’m at now. I have been waiting my turn, but when people say the division is tied up, when I’ve finished with it, it will be very untied, I’ll make sure of that.
“I think my actions speak very loudly.”
Anderson has previously been a sparring partner for world champ-ion Carl Froch, who said: “Kenny Anderson’s a great fighter, a lot of people don’t realise that.”
