TWO of the most promising boxers in Burnley will be gunning for ABA glory later this month.
Jack Steff and Danny Brelsford, who fight out of the Brian Roche Boxing Club, will be hoping to achieve national success as they step up their bid to became professional boxers.
Steff, 17, is currently number one in the country in his weight category while Brelsford, 19, a hard-hitting light heavyweight, is undefeated in seven fights.
Both have attracted attention from the sport’s big promoters but Roche is determined to keep hold of them as long as he can.
The two fighters are from Rawtenstall.
Roche said: “They are two great fighters and the promoters are going mad for them. But I want them to concentrate on the ABAs and take it from there.”
Steff, out for nine months with a nose injury, warmed up for the ABAs with a easy points win over UK number two Jack Connell in Liverpool at the weekend.
Also on the bill was Danny Shufflebottom, 13, from Crawshawbooth, who beat John Dowd on points but Uwais Majeed, 15, from Burnley, narrowly lost his bout to Barry White from Everton.
Meanwhile, Brelsford will make his North of England debut in a match in Guernsey at the weekend.
