COLNE'S Shayne Singleton is the new English light-welterweight champion after he beat belt holder Curtis Woodhouse in a thrilling split decision contest in Manchester.
The 23-year-old stylist, backed by a 300-strong army of fans at Trafford Park's Bowlers complex, claimed the coveted crown - the biggest prize of his now 14-fight unblemished career - after the judges scored the contest 96-94, 94-96, 96-95.
Singleton, who was the first fighter from Colne to claim a pro title after winning the International Masters belt last Autumn, will now target the British belt after his win.
