RISING fight star Luke Blackledge will return to the scene of his greatest triumph when he steps back into the boxing ring in Denmark.

The Accrington super middleweight, who is trained by Kevin Maree in Gisburn, takes on top Dane Rudy Markussen in Frederikshavn on March 13 as he heads back to the arena where he beat Mads Larsen in only his 10th fight last year to propel himself into the headlines.

And he is now aiming for another success on foreign soil to further enhance his reputation.

Blackledge, who is also the International Masters super-middleweight champion, can’t wait for the fight and said: “It was an honour to fight Mads Larsen and I am thrilled to return to Denmark.

“The example of Brian Magee shows where victories over Larsen and Markussen can get you – to the very top.

“I intend to take the same route and after knocking out Larsen, Markussen is the next in line. I look forward to going to Frederikshavn.”
