He then set up the next two, with Jamie Clarke and Andy Haworth getting on the scoresheet.
Josh O'Keefe was also on target, latching on to Keith Treacy's free-kick.
Boro grabbed their consolation in the dying minutes.
The win means Rovers finish fifth in the Premier League Reserve North.
