Blackburn's Reid sets sights on Europe

MIDFIELDER Steven Reid has set his sights on another top-six finish after Saturday's victory over Derby County ensured the race for Europe will go to the wire.

Rovers completed their home league programme with a 3-1 win over the Rams, courtesy of goals from strikers Roque Santa Cruz (2) and Jason Roberts.

And with Aston Villa also losing at home to Wigan, it means Rovers can still qualify for the Intertoto Cup on the final day, providing they win at Birmingham City and Villa fail to beat West Ham United at Upton Park.

Reid said: "We've given ourselves a chance.

"We are now a point behind Villa, so if we win at Birmingham and they fail to get a result, we could end up finishing in sixth.

"Sixty one points has been enough in the past and hopefully it will be again."

With Birmingham also needing a victory to stand any chance of staying up, it means Sunday's showdown at St Andrew's has now become a massive game for both clubs.

Reid said: "It's always a decent atmosphere at Birmingham but the fact they need a positive result will make it that bit more special.

"Their fans will look to get right behind them and they are going to need that.

"It's always a tough game down there and with them needing to get a result, it is going to be even tougher, but we are looking forward to it."

Those thoughts were also echoed by Roberts, who scored Rovers' second goal against Derby.

"It's going to be a massive game," said the former Wigan striker.

"We did our job against Derby, even though we would have liked to have done better, and we are looking forward to the next game now."

The season is still well alive with this game at BCFC.

Every player at BRFC as to put in this last gasp effort to gain entry into the 'inter-toto'

Cant wait to get down there & roar the lads on amongst the bad losers that are BCFC. They hate it(from my experience)

JR make sure you put 2 of your 4 chances away this week-end cause we cant afford for you to be missing them as those against DCFC(no critism here) just get the job done!!

Arte et labore

"OWEN Coyle wants to replicate the play-off party staged by Crystal Palace at Turf Moor next season"

Hey dingle, remarkable lack of ambition before the next season has even started,

A real football club would aim for an automatic slot,

Ha Ha Ha

I can't think of anything worthwhile to say about this story.
If there are any other discussions to which I have nothing to contribute, I will let you know.

Fantastic - something to play for on the last day! We even get to relegate a big club! Those crazy members of G14 who think they've got a history! Double pleasure!

Gold and Sullivan better be there to see how it's done!

Well if we do quallify for Europe i hope our pathetic European support improves to make it worth while.
We huff and puff then end up playing infront of 14.000 its pathetic.
Make sure if we get there that everybody gets down to Ewood and if need be bring a friend so we fill the ground to the brink!
