    Grand Prix ready to go

THE Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix is an 11-race series, which runs from May until August.

They vary in length from three miles to 13.5 miles and cover a mix of fell, road, trail and country.

Runners can count their best eight results towards their Grand Prix total, and anyone who completes in all 11 will receive a memento.

However, you enter races individually and there is no necessity to complete the whole Grand Prix.

The only change from last year sees the Colne 11-Mile Road Race dropped from the calendar.

The series opens on Sunday, May 4, with the Great Hameldon Hill Race, starting from Peel Park School Field, at noon.

It is six miles long and includes 1100 feet of climb up the Coppice, Moleside and Great Hameldon Hill. The route is marked and marshalled all the way.

Entries will be taken on the morning of the race at the Peel Park Hotel, Turkey Street, from 10am.
