Karl Billington has played a full part in a dominant display from the English Schools' Team at the SIAB Schools' Cross Country International in Perth, Scotland.
Making his international debut in the U17 age group, the 15-year-old Blackburn Harrier finished in eighth place as the England team packed well. As he was also eighth in the Inter Counties Championship, to win the final spot in the eight-man team, his latest performance marks another significant improvement.
Billington beat two of his team mates to be the final counter in the team as England scored 28 points, well ahead of runners-up Scotland with 85.

The course suited him with a mix of fast and hilly sections and he finished only 40 seconds behind race winner Callum Hawkins of Scotland in 20:02.
Karl was discovered by Blackburn Harriers after representing his school over the country, and has now stopped playing football to concentrate on athletics.
He has progressed rapidly under club coach Arthur Almond and is looking forward to making inroads on his track times this summer in the 1500m and 3000m during his final year in the Young Athletes League.
