POW-ER: Pauline Powell took on her way to second in the senior race
PENDLE'S Ben Lindsay has been chosen to represent England in a Home International match to be held on the course of the World Cross Country Championships in Edinburgh.
Lindsay represented the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team in the European Championships earlier this season, but different IAAF rules mean that he is ineligible to run as a junior in the World Championships.
Recognising the anomaly, the authorities have set up this match between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for teams comprising of three junior and two senior athletes.
Ben secured his place with fourth U20 in the English National, followed by 31st Senior at the Inter Counties at Nottingham last weekend.
Karl Billington, of Blackburn Harriers, warmed up for the Schools' International with a fine seventh place at Nottingham. He was also the first counter for Lancashire.
Highlight of the day for the Lancashire team was provided by the U17 women who became Inter County champions with Lancaster athletes Annika Jarman and Hannah Bateson finishing second and fourth.
