HYNDBURN AC’s juniors are celebrating after finishing third in the Lancashire Sportshall League final standings.

Team managers David Moynihan and Kirstie Chambers saw their young starlets clinch the bronze place position after they completed the third and final winter Sportshall fixture at Blackpool’s Stanley Park Sports Centre on Sunday.

Finishing just behind overall winners Preston and second-placed Blackpool represents a fantastic achievement for the Hyndburn team.

In the final standings, Hyndburn’s U11 girls came sixth, the U13 girls fourth, U15 girls third, U11 boys eighth, U13 boys second and U15 boys second.

During the three meetings, they had three athletes of the match – U11 girl Ellie Beech, Hasnain Ehsan in the U13 boys, and U15 boy Louis Ofoluwa.

Ehsan scored 78 points out of a maximum of 84 over the three matches, while Ofoluwa landed 67 points. Both boys were the highest point scores in their age group.

Over the three matches, athletes are selected for the Lancashire teams and, this year, 12 Hyndburn youngsters were chosen.

For the Lancashire U11 team, Oliver Chambers, Dominic Milligan, Nicola Moynihan, Ellie Beech and Lois McTiffin were selected.

Hasnain Ehsan, Jayden Coyne, Millie Richardson, Blythe Fourie and Abigail Bradwell were all picked for the Lancashire U13 team, while Louis Ofoluwa and Emma Duckworth got call-ups for the U15 team.

They are all competing in the North West Region Inter-Counties Championships this Saturday at Wigan’s Robin Park Indoor Arena.
